Your Medicaid ID Card
Now that you're a member, you will get a Medicaid card.
Your Medicaid card is mailed to you at the same time as your welcome packet and member handbook. We use the mailing address on file at your local Department of Social Services. Your Medicaid card will have:
- Your primary care provider's (PCP's) name and phone number
- Your Medicaid identification number
- Information on how you can contact us if you have any questions
If anything is wrong on your Medicaid card, call us right away.
If you don't receive your Medicaid card, or if you lose your card, call Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421).
If you need to use your medical, pharmacy, mental health or substance use benefits before you get your Medicaid card, please call Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421). We will give you your member ID number. Write down your member ID number and take it with you when you go to your health care provider or pharmacy. Your health care provider should call AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina to check your eligibility.
Every member gets his or her own Medicaid card. Do not let anyone else use your Medicaid card.
Carry your Medicaid card with you at all times.
